History: It was years before the the death of Goutetsu... Akuma and his elder brother Gouken were students of the Ansatsuken master Goutetsu. The brothers progressed under Goutetsu's tutelage, a dispute arose upon the nature of the fighting style which led to Gouken, unable to accept the violent nature of Anasatsuken, leaving Goutetsu to begin his own Dojo. Akuma continued his trainin and vowed to use the style as it was intended.
In order to learn Shun Goku Satsu, Akuma enbraced the pronciple of Satsui no Hadou. Through it, Akuma lost any and all of his compassion toward other humans. In addition, Akuma realised his limits and knew they could be expanded, he left Goutetsu's guidance to train alone on an island.
Upon returning to Goutetsu he demonstrated his strength by killing his former master with Shun Goku Satsu. Akuma removed the beaded necklace from Goutetsu's neck and placed it around his own. In the days ageter Akuma challenged his brother. Gouken quickly took the upper hand and eventually struck Akuma down. Akuma requested death in defeat, however his brother was unable to kill him. Akuma mocked Gouken and struck with Shun Goku Satsu. The dojo was filled with light and Gouken was killed. Ken saw the light and rushed to his masters aid, late, but he continued further into the woods to find his masters Murderer in which Akuma defeated Ken easily. Ryu soon learned of his master's death and began his search for Akuma.
It wasn't long after when Akuma began his search for worthy fighters to face. Secluding himself into the shadows, he watched small tournaments and street fights, desperately seeking someone who might be able to match his strength. He was eventually challenged by Gen. The battle was vicious, Gen survived the Shun Goku Satsu by emptying his soul in time, and Akuma began to wonder if this was the man that was worthy to face him. However, he began to sense not all was as it seemed and Gen's mouth began to bleed. Akuma's suspecions were right, Gen was critically ill. After being knocked to the ground, Gen told Akuma to kill him, but instead Akuma left without second words. Akuma soon awakens the Dark Intent after he gains an obsession over Ryu.
Eventually, Ryu finds Akuma's island and challenged him. The Intense battle ended in a draw. Akuma was fairly impressed as it was one of the closest battles that came to defeat yet. Telling Ryu to find him again when he embraced the Satsui no Hadou. Akuma struck the island and disappeared. The island fell apart around Ryu. Akuma thought about all the fighters he encountered and wondered with excitment if one day he would fight someone strong enough to defeat and kill him in battle. He began to train once more, awaiting for the day he and Ryu did battle again. Two years later, Akuma began to search once more for worthy fighters whilst awaiting Ryu to embrace the Satsui no Hadou. He encountered Gen once more and fought a final battle. However, unknown to Akuma, Ryu had rejected the Satsui no Hadou, declaring that a true warrior does not rely on violent intents.
Akuma didn't officially enter the second tournament. He instead lurked in the dark until he found the right time and jumped into Bison's Arena and performed a Shun Goku Satsu on Bison himself, killing him, and sending his soul into the underworld.
Once more, Akuma didn't officially enter the Third tournament. He lurked the shadows once more. He successfully pulled off a Shun Goku Satsu on Gill, although he left without knowing Gill resurrected himself. Over the time it took for the resurrection Akuma trained relentlessly until finally harnessing his power and learned several new powers. Akuma's self-taught technique was called 'Kongou Kokuretsuzan, in which Akunna channels all of his power into one hand and smashes it into the ground creating a vortex of energy upward around him. It is this technique that was used to destroy his original training ground.
Akuma continued to develop his incredible skills. He does battle with Oro in an inconclusive battle, each warrior sensing the other's massive chi and testing their powers. Akuma now demonstrated his ability to remain underwater under massive pressure for extended periods of time, and has managed to destroy a sunken ship with the technique that he has devised Tenshou Kaireki Jin, much to the chagrin of the naval crew who witnessed the attack performed.
Akuma now continues his training on his second island near Japan, where he has gathered a group of souls to do battle with him in the future... He continues to await the next bout with Ryu.
